Just steps from the port of Kos, tucked into Bouboulinas Street, you’ll find a beloved local gem: Mummy’s Cooking, also known as Evdokia Tavern. What began in 1998 as a cozy coffee shop quickly evolved into a full-fledged tavern — thanks to Mama Evdokia’s irresistible home-style cooking.

Every day from 6:30 a.m., Mama prepares a rotating selection of traditional Greek dishes straight from the heart. Expect 10–12 freshly cooked meals daily — like pork with leek, stuffed chicken, rooster in tomato sauce, hearty moussaka, and lasagna — plus an array of 10–15 homemade meze including dolmades, fava, and kavourdisto.

With fresh fish, perfectly grilled meats, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Mummy’s Cooking is more than a tavern — it’s a taste of real Greek hospitality, just like home.

Talk to the servers / owners - they have great recommendations and personalities! We loved the food and it was decently priced, but keep in mind that the prices on the menu in the picters here on Google Maps are old - the ones posted 4 years ago - prices have been raised but still great for the quality. If you're allergic to onions, you'll have a limited selection (but this would be similar in any other Greek restaurant), but still tasty! The vegetarian options were plenty and tasted great! Overall, great, authentic, and nearby restaurant! ❤️

That was a recommendation which made my day. Zucchini flowers filled with Feta, Cabbage Dolma filled with such a delicious rice, vegetable, meat mixture with a perfect sour sauce, and such a perfect pork-fillet with mustard, capers and pimento, and potatoes and orzo rice as side dish. Just follow the recommendations what they have as the dish of the day, let them surprise you!

We returned today after a wonderful meal 3 years ago, so glad we returned. The lamb was amazing, slow cooked for 3 hours and the greek sausage from northern Greece was a big winner. One of the true Kos gems, where you see a lot of the locals eating (tells you everything!). Pricing is actually on the cheaper side but you won't be disappointed with the food or the service. If we come to Kos again...we will be visiting.

The best place to eat in Kos! Authentic Greek food. We came two days in a row as it’s so good and they saved us Pastitsio on request. Lovely people!

Mommy's cooking has been one of the greates food experiences in Kos and it's been the only restaurant we had dinner twice in our stay on the island. It seemed to attend a family sunday dinner. The owners have been simply great. Let me just thank them. I wanted to try greek Pastitsio and, even if it was not available on the menu that day, they cooked it just for me, I was about to cry, never happenend in a restaurant. My fiance, an octopus lover, said it was one of the best octopus ever eaten! And it's not a fish tavern! Definitely not to miss!!!
