Tucked away on charming Averof Street in the heart of Kos Town, Sardelles Fish Taverna is a beloved local institution where tradition, flavor, and hospitality come together. Since 1961, this family-run gem has been serving up some of the island’s finest seafood, earning a loyal following among both locals and travelers.
Step inside and you’ll find a cozy, nautical-themed setting that immediately feels like home. The owners, Katerina and Amir, welcome guests with genuine warmth, making every meal feel like a celebration. The menu is a tribute to the Aegean, offering a mouthwatering selection of freshly caught seafood dishes—standouts include sea bass baked in salt and flambéed right at your table, seafood kritharoto (a Greek twist on risotto), stuffed squid, and their signature seafood carbonara. Don’t miss the red cheese saganaki for a bold start.
With a focus on fresh, local ingredients and time-honored recipes, Sardelles delivers not just a meal, but a true taste of Greek island life. Whether you’re on a romantic evening stroll or wrapping up a day of exploration, Sardelles is the perfect stop to unwind, indulge, and experience authentic hospitality.

in the last weekBeautiful place very close to the beach. Great place for food and drink. Live music on Friday evenings - not to miss! Tried a lit of dishes, fish is obviously a must, but saganaki dishes I strongly recommend!

a week agoI don’t usually leave comments, but I hope this helps the gentleman that had my order behave when he faces criticism. I went to the restaurant after reading many reviews and ordered sardines. This gentleman kindly offered to fillet them, but it arrived relatively cold and falling apart. When I asked whether it’s fresh or frozen, I was met with an extremely rude and defensive attitude. He loudly asked other tables if they were satisfied and tried to ‘prove’ his point instead of listening. If you can’t handle polite feedback, you shouldn’t be in the service industry. Despite my respectful tone, he remained dismissive. I had to call him three times for the bill, but he ignored my call. In the end, it’s not just about the food — it’s the experience that stays with people. I hope no other customer is treated this way. For me, nothing special at this restaurant. Paid €30 for shrimp, octopus ball and a glass of ouzo. ( after cancelling sardines)

a month agoWe had a delicious meal here, all of the food was of excellent quality and was delivered with fantastic service(thanks Ali). We came here mainly for the fish, and we weren’t disappointed, the grilled sardines were the highlight for us, but the octopus balls and calamari were also great.
